Student Innovators is a new student organization at UT Dallas with the goal of connecting students of different backgrounds in order to accomplish awesome things. We are a team of movers and shakers who back up crazy ideas with decisive action. We are big picture thinkers, big risk takers, and big problem solvers. We are social entrepreneurs, computer nerds, fitness junkies, creative designers, almost-main-stage musicians, and more. We enjoy music festivals, video games, arts & crafts, memes, and listing a bunch of things in a row. Our organization values connection, collaboration, and community, and we believe that our strength comes from the belief that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Student Innovators has a mission to connect our campus community through collaboration in order to create awesome things. We are a hybrid organization- both a 501(c)(3) non-profit and a UTD recognized student organization, and we grow and develop our members to become change-makers in their campus, communities, and companies by offering one-of-a-kind experiences that will revolutionize their career trajectory.

Job Description

We are looking for motivated students to join the SI Events team and help organize events for the UTD community. You will work with a team to plan, facilitate, and establish events for our members and members of other student organizations to help our mission of cultivating a more connected campus. You’ll look to create unforgettable campus experiences for our community. You’ll work closely with the Executive team, SI Leadership, and team members to foster a culture of boundless creativity and continuous improvement. Careers that this position can prepare you for include Events and Programs Manager, Experience Strategist, Community Marketing Manager, and more.

Responsibilities

You will be working with a team of like-minded students to maintain operations and oversee responsibilities of the Events division. These responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining a comprehensive calendar of events, meetups, vendor partners, and activities.
  • Preparing detailed event outlines for upcoming Student Innovator and collaborated (SIx) events, and overseeing event operations.
  • Designing marketing strategies for events and activities and using social media to increase awareness across campus.
  • Becoming an expert on on-campus activities, knowing when rooms and spaces are available and how to reserve them.
  • Finding ways to bring value to both Student Innovators and our partnered organizations through fun and meaningful events.
  • Building and maintaining relationships on and off campus with partners, vendors, and university staff.
  • Playing a key role in the Student Innovators Leadership team and contributing to SI’s long-term organizational and strategic plans.

  • You’re a leader who can efficiently and effectively manage a team of like-minded students towards building unforgettable experiences.
  • You feel at home with the Google Apps suite, researching things on the internet, and you have familiarity with creative programs like Photoshop, Canva, and Illustrator (or are willing to learn).
